The Thieves of Cavelyn: Ch 1THE THIEVES OF CAVELYN
There came three more taps at my door before I realized that I was no longer dreaming. With a grunt I forced myself to my feet, blinking slumber from my eyes and adjusting to the gloom. I cracked the door and peered through the narrow gap into the cold, snow-blanketed night.
I need not have bothered. A hoarse whisper greeted me from beyond the dooryard.
Its me, Kyle. Let me in.
For a long moment I contemplated doing so. I had an inkling of why he was here it wasnt his first visit. I wished he wouldnt bother me anymore. But I opened the door anyway to bid Lorin entrance.

Iron Magic: Chapter 1 Iron Magic: Chapter One
A boy chased a cat through the crowded sea of soft leather and myriad vivid colors along the cobblestone boulevard. Between arms and legs the faces of buildings gleamed copper in the sun. It was midday. The noisy throng rang with song and musical plucking, and drowned the gleeful shouts of their play in the tumult of market fare. So much rubble. So little outcry. The silence of the city grates on her eardrums and the mantras she'd been forced to memorize. The Seers demanded they observe thirteen years of recitation before they attempt to weave their first World together.
But who other than the Seers can claim the incantations that knot the skeins they twist and pull on like reins hold fast? When have any of the Sisters recorded the visions they traced upon space-time and recited them, left them open for critique and discussion and debate?
Which is why she walks through the chalky soot of the smashed city around her. This all
